In the beginning…

Based from the UK, the new city of Milton Keynes (or so they call it) renowned for its multiple roundabouts and ‘Concrete Cows’, the rest of Europe is just a hop skip and a jump across the water and the rest of the world it easily accessible to me with a good flight network.

Take a look at where I’ve been. I’ll share what’s good and what’s NOT!

As a child (youngest of four) we would hitch up our caravan and take touring holidays across the contintent, perhaps this is where my love of the unplanned open road all started. If only my memory served me better to recall those trips in detail. It’s only those random snippets that we all recall into adulthood such as:

  • The winding roads across the Pyrenees Mountains to the tax haven resort of Andorra…I just remember being travel sick the entire way! or,
  • The beautiful beaches of southern France where I just recall cutting my toe open and getting a grain of sand in it which stayed with me until teenage years when I had to have it cut back open and taken out.
  • Then there is my favourite; the car breaking down, stuck on the side of the road in the middle of the French countryside and my Dad fixing the fan belt with a pair of tights… I always look back and wonder how lucky we were to have tights with us! Who packs tights to take on holiday??

My lists of crazy snippets from my childhood holidays could go on forever but will offer the current day traveller little help or guidance in where to go and what to avoid, so instead have a read of ‘Tales of my Travels’ and explore with me what I’ve seen through now adult eyes.
